Overview
Mi 5s moved Xiaomi's compact flagship to a metal body, Snapdragon 821 and a 12 MP IMX378 rear camera. Its under-glass ultrasonic fingerprint reader differs from the rear reader on Mi 5s Plus.
Editions and camera
Contemporary configurations were 3/64 GB and 4/128 GB; the surviving page also includes a later 4/32 GB option. Pressure sensing belongs only to the 4/128 GB edition. OIS and the IR transmitter from earlier models are absent.
The maker lists 1080p120, but the actual camera review records 4K30, 1080p30 and 720p120 slow motion. The reviewed modes are retained. Qualcomm confirms the 27 September 2016 unveiling; it is not assigned as a universal retail date. Launch software was Android 6.0 / MIUI 8, and NFC hardware is separate from later payment software availability.
