Overview
Mi 9 SE keeps the compact family role with a 70.5 mm width, 155 g body and 5.97-inch AMOLED. Compared with standard Mi 9, the processor, cameras, charging and positioning are different rather than proportionally reduced.
Hardware
Snapdragon 712 reaches a maker maximum 2.3 GHz with 6 GB LPDDR4x and 64/128 GB UFS 2.1. The preceding Mi 8 SE's eMMC specification must not carry forward. There is no microSD expansion.
Rear cameras are 48 MP main, 8 MP telephoto and 13 MP ultrawide. The original test saw 12 MP telephoto output files despite the maker's 8 MP specification; output dimensions alone do not establish physical sensor resolution.
Everyday features
Screen fingerprint, NFC and an IR transmitter remain. Battery ratings are 3070 mAh typical and 2970 mAh minimum with a supplied 18 W adapter and USB-PD support.
Firmware
The reviewed unit ran Android 9 / MIUI 10.2. The maker marks moon mode and 1080p60 as later OTA additions, distinct from initial 4K30 and 1080p30 video support.
