Overview

Mi 9 advances Xiaomi's 2019 mainstream flagship to Snapdragon 855 and three rear cameras. A 6.39-inch AMOLED with a waterdrop cutout and in-display fingerprint replaces the previous standard model's wider notch and rear reader.

China versions

The surviving maker table lists standard 6/128 and 8/128 GB with LPDDR4x and UFS 2.1. Transparent, premium and named limited editions have separate rows; their maximum memory is not standard equipment. Overseas 64 GB options are not merged into China capacity.

Mi 9 SE has Snapdragon 712, a smaller display and different cameras and battery. Later Pro 5G does not make original Mi 9 a 5G phone.

A surviving China product inventory also lists standard Mi 9 in 8/256 GB in grey, blue and purple, separately from named transparent editions. Not every 256 GB unit is transparent, and the inventory does not establish the same first sale day as 128 GB options.

Imaging and charging

The 48 MP main, 12 MP 2x telephoto and 16 MP ultrawide cover different perspectives; ultrawide close focus is not a fourth camera. The primary camera test confirms no rear module has OIS.

Handset support is 27 W wired and 20 W wireless. The surviving China page lists a 27 W adapter, while an early review received 18 W accessories; packages require regional and batch qualification.

Software

The contemporary unit ran Android 9 / MIUI 10. Moon mode, motion tracking and low-light fingerprint optimization were marked as later OTA additions.
