Overview
The 2014 Mi 4 combines a stainless-steel frame, 5-inch 1080p screen, Snapdragon 801 and 3 GB RAM. A 13 MP rear camera records 4K, with an 8 MP front camera and IR remote control. 3G and carrier-specific 4G models differ.
Period and variants
The 22 July announcement specifies 3 GB RAM and 16/64 GB storage. August review software is Android 4.4.3 with MIUI V5, preceding V6. The surviving manufacturer sales page has later 2 GB/16 GB and MIUI 6 details, also allowing camera-supplier changes. These states are kept separate; no common retail date is assigned.
The reviewed 2015 India unit lacks LTE. Manufacturer support distinguishes Mobile, Unicom and Telecom 4G models. Snapdragon family capability does not establish every handset’s radios. A single micro-SIM goes in the left tray. Mi 4i and 4c hardware is excluded.
A replaceable cover does not make the battery user-removable. There is no microSD. Exterior steel, internal magnesium and plastic rear are distinct. Conflicting glass claims remain unresolved. Infrared is present; NFC is absent. Dimensions follow two physical reviews rather than an inconsistent event width. The photo does not identify a carrier variant.
