Overview

Period and variants
Xiaomi announced Mi 2 alongside 1S on 16 August 2012; the August purchase date belongs to 1S. Mi 2 engineering reservations and the October sale plan remain separate. September engineering software is Android 4.1.1 with MIUI V4, preceding later V5.
The original model excludes 2S and 2A changes. The October factory manual requires battery removal before SIM handling. OTG and MHL need appropriate accessories; FM and Dolby describe period features.
The standard battery is quoted as 2000 mAh. Optional thick batteries were described as 3000 mAh in September and 3100 mAh in November. Reviewed WCDMA bands are not a carrier union. The product renders come from the original 2012 Mi 2 launch page; prices and promotional text belong to that historical material.
