Overview
Xperia X1 introduces the Xperia family with an arc slider, landscape QWERTY keyboard and3-inch WVGA touchscreen. Windows Mobile6.1 Professional, Panels, optical navigation and a standard3.5mm socket define its design.
Period and variants
Announced on10 February2008, X1 received retail testing by year-end. The May third-edition factory paper still describes158g; December retail testing finds145g and528MHz, distinct from the original500MHz proposal. The photographs show an October Opera exhibition demonstrator.
256MB RAM,512MB NAND flash and up to400MB user storage are separate quantities. Windows Mobile6.1 Professional is distinct from later Android Xperia devices. Standard miniUSB and a native3.5mm socket replace the familiar earlier Sony Ericsson FastPort arrangement.
X1i uses UMTS900/1900/2100, while X1a uses850/1900/2100. Factory X1a video is restricted to QVGA24fps; the tested international retail handset records VGA30fps. Those results are not combined into a universal regional specification. Retail RDS differs from early announcement reporting. Stylus input, optical navigation and slider-based orientation do not imply a built-in accelerometer.
