T610 combines aluminium styling, a 65,536-colour screen and integrated CIF camera with QuickShare image sharing, a joystick, numeric keypad and Bluetooth.
Period and variants
T610 was announced on 4 March 2003 with a second-quarter rollout plan. Vodafone’s June retail report confirms a Swedish May launch. March hands-on reports used preproduction units; their status is explicit and no universal first retail day is invented.
T610 uses GSM 900/1800/1900, distinct from T616’s GSM 850/1800/1900 and the Chinese-market T618 model. Its STN panel is not the later T630 TFT. Factory resolution is 128×160; one early review’s 128×60 is a typographical error. The integrated camera captures 352×288 CIF, not VGA, and MPF-10 is an external flash accessory.
The 2 MB file area is shared by images, sounds, themes and applications; a Java heap is not total handset RAM. Factory Bluetooth 1.0b is distinct from compatibility with 1.1 peers. The standard-accessory list and actual unit agree on 750 mAh BST-25. A conflicting whitepaper row retains BST-14/700 mAh, and photographed later battery labels do not establish launch capacity. The 32-voice synthesizer and MusicDJ compose ringing tones rather than a modern full music player.
