Overview
SX1 is Siemens’ Symbian OS 6.1 / Series 60 smartphone, with number keys beside the screen, a VGA camera, MMC expansion, MP3 playback and FM radio.
Period and variants
SX1 was announced in February 2003; an international version reached the market in December, with localized Dutch hardware / software arriving later. The ordinary production handset is distinct from McLaren editions and prototypes.
Contemporary investigation separates 16 MB working RAM from 4 MB user data, about 3.7–3.8 MB initially free. The 176 × 220 panel includes its top system-status strip. Factory-guide 116 g and 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery values are retained instead of mixing prototype numbers.
The side MMC slot does not guarantee safe removal while running: Siemens instructs powering off, and early software tests encountered errors. FM and MP3 stereo output uses a wired headset; the handset speaker is mono. Bluetooth power Class 2 is not Bluetooth protocol version 2.0. Recording depends on installed applications, distinct from later modifications.
