Overview

Siemens’ 2004 S65 business feature phone combines a 1.3 MP camera, RS-MMC expansion and Bluetooth with a numeric keypad and 132 × 176 display.

Period and variants

S65 was announced at CeBIT in March 2004 with a third-quarter rollout plan; contemporary retail reviews appeared by September. This entry covers ordinary S65, distinct from other 65-series and later MP3-capable models.

Original reviewed packages include 32 MB RS-MMC. About 11 MB internal shared data space and a tested 6.5 MB initially free are separate; preinstalled content changes free capacity. RS-MMC is reduced-size MMC, not microSD. Maximum still capture is 1280 × 960, and flash uses an optional external IFL-600 module.

A card slot does not establish a music player: independent contemporary tests find no native MP3 or FM tuner. QCIF recording limits and storage behaviour vary with firmware, so no universal clip length is asserted. Factory 750 mAh Li-ion and physical dimensions agree with actual tests. Bluetooth and infrared support PC synchronization but were mutually exclusive when enabled in testing.
