Overview

The 2008 SGH-i900 Omnia combines a touchscreen, optical navigation and Windows Mobile productivity. A 3.2-inch display, 624 MHz processor and 8 / 16 GB storage define the original model.

Period and variants

Samsung’s Korean announcement is dated 10 June 2008 and schedules a Singapore exhibition appearance for 17 June; neither establishes worldwide first sale. Later retail reviews document the original i900 rather than CDMA i910, Omnia II or Symbian i8910 HD.

TouchWiz supplements Windows Mobile 6.1. The optical pad can move a pointer, while the detached stylus has no internal storage bay. The phone uses a proprietary Samsung connector; a standard 3.5 mm socket is supplied through the external headset adapter.

The 8 / 16 GB storage variants are separate from 128 MB RAM. Printed page 21 of the factory guide specifies compatible microSD cards up to 16 GB and requires battery removal. Small differences in quoted width and weight remain attributed to the period reviews.
