Overview

Samsung’s2003 SGH-E700 combines an internal antenna,TFT inner screen, colour OLED outer display andVGA self portraits. Dual-bandGSM/GPRS,IrDA contact transfer and separate Java storage follow its original guide and contemporary firsthand reviews, separately fromE715 andE720.

Period and variants

SGH-E700 belongs to Samsung’s2003 camera-clamshell generation, with blue/silver styling and an internal antenna. Samsung’s retrospective givesAugust, whereas contemporary European/Russian shipment plans differ; no worldwide first day is fixed. E715 andE720 radios, flash andcamera remain separate.

A128×160 TFT inner screen pairs with a64×96,256-colour OLED outer display for closed-flip self portraits. The camera makes640×480 JPEG stills, with night,multi-shot,frame,effect andtimer modes. The guide places volume, headset andIrDA on the left, camera on the right and the proprietary accessory connector at the bottom.

Roughly9MB shared media/MMS and600KB separate Java capacity are user pools, notRAM. Dual-bandGSM/GPRS,WAP andMIDP1.0 applications do not establish a smartphone OS. IrDA transfers business cards; PC pictures need Samsung software, rather than unrestricted handset-to-handset transfer. August’s sample is86g and800mAh; another review gives83g, with exact weight mapping unresolved.
