Overview
D500 combines a spring-assisted slider, 1.3MP camera, colour TFT display, MP3 playback and Bluetooth in Samsung’s early Blue Black design.
Period and variants
The 7 October 2004 announcement planned a fourth-quarter launch; Samsung’s later history table records December 2004. Neither establishes a precise regional first retail day. This entry covers SGH-D500; EDGE-capable D500E is distinct.
Launch material specifies 80MB file space, while Samsung’s UK sheet lists 96MB user memory. These figures do not establish RAM or one universal amount of free storage. The table qualifies its launch figure. The factory standard battery is 800mAh; 1000mAh is an extended accessory. The side headset connection is proprietary despite its USB-like shape.
