Overview

The 2009 i8910 Omnia HD pairs Symbian S60 with a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, an 8 MP camera, 720p recording and two speakers. Its software platform differs from Windows Mobile Omnia models.

Period and variants

Samsung Nordic’s 16 February MWC announcement identifies Omnia HD as a Symbian device. The July retail review describes uneven carrier supply and software-related interruptions, so no universal first-sale date is inferred.

HD denotes 1280 × 720 recording: the screen remains 360 × 640, and the supplied analogue TV connection carries standard-definition output. The two speakers are separate from virtual 5.1 headphone processing. Micro-USB and 3.5 mm connectors improve accessory compatibility over i900.

The announcement advertises 32 GB expansion, while the July reviewer actually tested a full 16 GB card. July’s 24 fps listing and September’s II1-firmware 30 fps description are kept distinct. Large 8 / 16 GB storage does not describe available system C: space. The second photograph shows a custom homepage.
