Overview
Samsung’s 2015 Galaxy S6 moves to glass and aluminium with a flat 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen, Exynos 7420, 3 GB RAM and 16 MP OIS camera. Its sealed 2550 mAh battery, storage choices, built-in wireless charging and regional variants follow maker documents and contemporary tests.
Period and variants
Samsung unveils the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in Barcelona on 1 March 2015; the global English release follows the next day. Its 10 April shipping date is the announced start plan, without a separately established earliest worldwide retail sale. This record covers the flat 5.1-inch S6, apart from the dual-curved edge, larger edge+ and protected Active.
The 143.4 × 70.5 × 6.8 mm, 138 g aluminium/glass body has Gorilla Glass 4 front and back and a sealed 2550 mAh battery. User battery removal, microSD expansion and the S5’s water-resistance rating are absent. The guide and hardware test establish bottom Micro-USB/3.5 mm/mono speaker, top IR, right SIM/power, left volume and home-key fingerprint sensing. April G920F/FQ/I instructions describe one nano-SIM rather than every regional configuration.
Exynos 7420 combines four 2.1 GHz A57 and four 1.5 GHz A53 cores with Mali-T760 MP8, 3 GB LPDDR4 and 32/64/128 GB UFS 2.0. Total storage differs from user-free space. Android 5/TouchWiz represents the launch period; reviewed 5.0.2 is a sample version. The rear 16 MP f/1.9 camera has autofocus/OIS, with a 5 MP f/1.9 front camera. Tested video includes 4K30, 1080p30/60 and 720p120 slow-motion capture, distinct from playback speed.
Built-in Qi/PMA charging differs from earlier accessory charging backs and from S7 fast wireless charging. Radio bands, LTE capabilities and Samsung Pay vary by market, carrier and period. Original photo screens/backgrounds remain intact without appearance-based launch-software or regional-model inference.
