Overview
Samsung’s 2014 Galaxy Note4 combines a 5.7-inch QHD display, pressure-sensitive S Pen, removable 3220mAh battery, 3GB RAM and OIS camera. Regional processors, conflicting early card limits and swipe fingerprint sensing follow maker documents and contemporary tests.
Period and variants
Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note4 in Berlin on 3September2014. October availability is the original plan, not an independently established earliest worldwide retail day. Its flat 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and integrated S Pen remain separate from Note Edge’s side display and 3000mAh battery.
The 153.5 × 78.6 × 8.5mm, 176g body combines a metal frame with a textured plastic rear cover and user-removable battery. The guide and firsthand tests establish separate Micro-SIM and microSD compartments, top 3.5mm/IR, bottom Micro-USB2.0/pen slot and rear mono speaker. The 3220mAh maker battery agrees with review prose rather than a 3200mAh table typo. The October guide and maker webpage specify 128GB cards; the early news PDF’s 64GB entry is retained as conflicting evidence.
Regional Snapdragon805/Krait450/Adreno420 and Exynos5433/A57+A53/Mali-T760 configurations have separate clocks and radios. Three gigabytes is RAM; 32GB is total flash. Launch Android4.4/TouchWiz differs from reviewed 4.4.4 and later upgrades. The S Pen provides pressure, hover/button input and replaceable nibs; a firsthand test records 2048 pressure levels. Home-key fingerprint sensing uses a swipe.
The autofocus 16MP rear camera adds OIS, with a 3.7MP f/1.9 front camera. Tests establish 4K30, 1440p30 and 1080p30/60 capture. One Sony-sensor sample does not identify every production batch. Adaptive/QC2.0 charging needs a suitable charger. Maker Bluetooth4.1 is retained with the review’s differing 4.0 wording; LTE categories, bands and carrier services are not combined into one worldwide configuration.
