Overview

The 2009 Palm Pixi brings webOS to a light QWERTY candybar with a 2.63-inch 320 × 400 touchscreen, 8 GB storage and removable battery. The original Sprint model lacks Wi-Fi and differs from Pixi Plus.

Period and variants

Palm’s formal press release is dated 9 September 2009 and plans holiday Sprint supply. The formal release and supply plan remain distinct; one universal announcement or sale date is not assigned. The 11 November preview runs webOS 1.3.1, but its reviewer cannot establish the final launch patch, so the original is classified as webOS 1.x.

The keyboard is exposed, with a touch gesture area instead of Pre’s mechanical centre button. Factory 320 × 400, 18-bit colour and 99.5 g resolve inconsistent review-table resolution and ounce figures.

MSM7627 has a 600 MHz application processor and a separate 400 MHz modem processor, not two equal application cores. Original Pixi has neither Wi-Fi nor a card slot. About 7 GB of its 8 GB storage is user-accessible; RAM is a separate quantity. Later Plus hardware is excluded.

Only the right rear speaker cutout is functional, so the pair does not imply stereo. The fixed-focus 2 MP camera lacks recording in the reviewed 2009 software; playback is separate. Touchstone requires separately supplied accessories. Period online services require separate present-day verification.
