Dates and versions
Announced on 29 August 2007, with shipments announced on 15 October. The shipping release still described stores receiving it soon, so an exact global first retail day is not asserted. This record uses the original global WCDMA 2100 configuration; later North American radio variants need separate checking.
Use and collecting
The display grew from 2.6 to 2.8 inches while keeping 240×320 resolution. RAM is 128MB, distinct from the fixed 8GB media flash. The microSD slot was removed, and the BL-6F battery is rated at 1200mAh. A black finish distinguishes the revision.
The autofocus camera retains Carl Zeiss optics but loses the original physical lens cover. Assisted GPS, Wi-Fi, infrared, stereo Bluetooth, a 3.5mm connector and TV output remain useful identifiers. Radio frequencies follow the early manufacturer sheet, cross-checked against contemporary reporting, rather than conflicting later manual entries.
