At a glance

Dates and versions

Announced on 26 September 2006. Nokia announced shipments to key European, Asian and Middle Eastern markets on 22 March 2007; the exact first retail day is unverified. This record follows the original global configuration with WCDMA 2100. North American N95-3 battery, memory and radio specifications are separate.

Use and collecting

The original has a 2.6-inch QVGA display, 64MB RAM, up to about 160MB internal user storage and hot-swappable microSD. Released-device tests identify Symbian OS 9.2 and S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1; the early sheet’s “Feature Pack 3.1” wording is not used as the pack name.

Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus accompany the 5MP camera and VGA video at up to 30fps. Stereo speakers, a 3.5mm connector, TV output and FM radio support media use. The original battery is a 950mAh BL-5F. Later firmware changed assisted positioning, card support and software behaviour, so these changes are not all treated as launch capabilities.
