Overview

N-Gage QD refines game controls, front-position calling and external MMC access while retaining the original game-card platform and Bluetooth multiplayer, with native MP3, FM and USB removed.

Period and variants

The 14 April 2004 factory announcement planned May availability for the 900/1800 MHz model in Europe, Africa and Asia, and June for the 850/1900 MHz Americas model. These are separate dual-band variants. The June retail review tested v03.15; QD retains Symbian 6.1 and first-generation Series 60.

A four-way pad and separate OK key replace the original clickable navigation control. External full-size MMC access improves card changes, but the retail review requires menu preparation before removal. Its tested 512 MB card does not establish a universal supported maximum.

The contemporary original BL-6C is 1070 mAh, and the factory guide identifies BL-6C as the approved battery. The 2.5 mm headset connection is mono. Third-party playback does not restore the removed native MP3 player, FM radio or USB hardware. User storage and runtime memory remain separate. The blue photographed shell is not evidence of a launch colour.
