Overview

Original N-Gage combines a Series 60 smartphone with two-handed game controls, MMC game cards, Bluetooth multiplayer, MP3/AAC and stereo FM, alongside a portrait display and edge-position voice calls.

Period and variants

This is the physical 2003 N-Gage, kept separate from QD and the later service for other S60 phones. Nokia’s annual report confirms an October 2003 rollout in more than sixty countries. Historical Arena functions describe that period, without claiming current service availability.

The body supports a two-handed landscape grip, while its 176 × 208 display remains portrait. Series 60 uses the clickable navigation control; some games instead use numeric action keys. Changing a game MMC requires shutdown, cover removal and battery removal. Edge-position calling and card access are the structures later revised in QD.

Contemporary reporting distinguishes 3.4 MB user storage from 16 MB runtime memory. The original offers native MP3/AAC, stereo FM and mini-B USB. Headset, adapter and line-in cables are separate accessories; socket diameter is unspecified. A conflicting frequency table in the old guide is rejected in favour of the contemporary original-model table. CPU core identity and maximum card capacity are not inferred.
