Overview

The Lumia 800 is one of Nokia’s first Windows Phones. Its polycarbonate body and curved glass echo the N9, while a 3.7-inch ClearBlack AMOLED screen, Live Tiles and Nokia Drive deliver a different software experience.

Period and variants

Nokia announced the Lumia 800 on 26 October 2011, planning November availability in six European markets before expansion elsewhere. It launched with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango; N9’s MeeGo and later regional radios or updates remain separate.

A single-core 1.4 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 16 GB storage form its original configuration. There is no microSD slot; promotional SkyDrive capacity is not physical storage. The familiar body houses a smaller 3.7-inch 800 × 480 panel and omits the N9’s front camera and NFC.

The autofocus 8 MP camera uses dual LEDs and records 720p. Contemporary testing found Internet Sharing disabled at launch. USB synchronization depended on period software, so neither unrestricted mass storage nor OTG is assumed. Nokia’s online services describe historical capabilities.
