Overview

The Lumia 1020 brings 41 MP oversampling, optical stabilization and xenon flash to Windows Phone 8. Its circular camera module, Pro Camera controls and optional grip make it a distinctive Nokia imaging handset.

Period and variants

Announced on 11 July 2013, the Lumia 1020 had a stated 26 July US AT&T availability plan, with other markets following. This archive uses launch Windows Phone 8 and the original 32 GB sheet, keeping regional radios, capacities and later software separate.

The 41 MP headline describes the sensor. Nokia’s whitepaper specifies a 1/1.5-inch BSI sensor, six-element optics, mechanical shutter and stabilization. Original Pro Camera can save a 5 MP sharing JPEG alongside a 34 / 38 MP image. This differs from the 808’s module; crop zoom is not moving optical zoom, and later RAW support is not assumed at launch.

Body thickness excludes the camera bulge. Qi needs the optional CC-3066 cover; PD-95G grip controls, tripod mount and battery are accessories. Captions follow the yellow handset actually visible even where an original filename says Black.
