Overview
E72 updates the QWERTY business candybar with an optical navigation key, a 600MHz processor, a 5MP camera and a 3.5mm headset socket.
Period and variants
Nokia announced E72 on 15 June 2009; a subsequent data sheet plans a fourth-quarter 2009 introduction. The exact first retail day is unverified. E72i, E73 Mode and regional radio configurations remain distinct.
The OS is Symbian 9.3 / S60 3rd Edition FP2. A contemporary review’s 9.4 wording conflicts with two other hands-on accounts and is excluded. The landscape QVGA panel measures 2.36 inches, rounded to 2.4 in the data sheet. Optical Navi, the 5MP camera and built-in 3.5mm socket are clear changes from E71. Its 128MB RAM and approximately 250MB user space are separate from a bundled 4GB card.
