Overview

The 1996 Nokia 8110 combines a curved body with a sliding microphone cover that protects its numeric keys when closed. The original GSM handset remains distinct from the 2018 Nokia 8110 4G.

Period and variants

This page records the NHE-6BX original. The museum dates its announcement to 9 September 1996; a universal first-sale day remains unset. Its retail slider is manual. The film prop’s spring modification, 8110i smart-message services and the 2018 revival’s camera and apps remain separate.

GSM 900 belongs to this model; 1800 MHz variants have separate model numbers. Optional infrared adapters connected it to a PCMCIA data card rather than providing a built-in IrDA port. Original hardware lacks the revival’s micro-USB, 3.5 mm socket and camera.

Museum and device-history records give 152 g; battery configuration matters when comparing weights. The Cadex catalogue lists BLJ-2 and extended BLJ-5 battery options. A confirmed original-model technical table remains unavailable, so CPU, RAM and pixel resolution are not inferred.
