Dates and versions
Announced on 19 November 2001. Nokia announced shipments on 26 June 2002; neither date establishes the first retail day in every market, so the date field remains empty.
Use and collecting
Sliding the body exposes the numeric keypad, while a joystick handles menus and camera capture. The 176×208 TFT shows 4,096 colours, and the camera saves photographs up to 640×480 for MMS and contact portraits. GSM 900/1800 is complemented by GPRS, HSCSD, infrared and Bluetooth data transfer.
The manual describes 3.6MB of free storage shared by images, contacts, calendar entries and messages; it is not a RAM rating. The phone does not support the Bluetooth audio profile, so Bluetooth headsets cannot be assumed compatible. The launch battery rating is 750mAh. CPU, RAM and total storage-chip capacity await direct evidence.
