Overview
Nokia’s 2009 metal 6700 classic combines a 2.2-inch QVGA display, autofocus 5 MP camera, 3G, GPS and Bluetooth with a physical keypad. MicroUSB audio/charging, BL-6Q and documented card-limit differences remain explicit.
Period and variants
Nokia announced the 6700 classic on 29 January 2009 as a compact metal successor to the 6300, with planned Q2 deliveries. It uses Series 40 6th Edition; the Symbian 6700 slide is separate. Numeric keys, Navi navigation and a two-stage camera key retain physical controls.
Display and camera
The 2.2-inch TFT offers QVGA and up to 16.7 million colours. The original planned sheet lists 109.8 × 45 × 11 mm and 116 g; a retail review lists 11.2 mm thickness and 113 g. Its autofocus 5 MP camera captures 2592 × 1944 images, with a half-press to focus, LED flash and sequence shooting. VGA video reaches 15 fps.
Connections and audio
RM-470 supports quad-band GSM and WCDMA 900/1900/2100. HSDPA 10 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps are theoretical maxima. Internal/assisted GPS and Nokia Maps belong to its original service environment; voice navigation required a regional licence rather than a perpetual entitlement. Native WebKit and Opera Mini coexist with the reviewed Java multitasking limit.
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR supports A2DP. MicroUSB handles data, compatible wired audio and computer charging beside a separate Nokia DC socket; a native 3.5 mm jack is absent. FM uses a wired antenna and RDS. The guide offers speaker output, but the reviewed sample lacked that option; the source difference remains unresolved.
Storage and power
The planned sheet’s up to 170 MB storage is not RAM. Issue1 documentation specifies 8 GB microSD and battery removal for card changes, while the review reports 16 GB and hot swapping. The replaceable BL-6Q is 960 mAh; AC-8 charging is approximately 85 minutes in the guide’s home-screen example. The original photograph preserves the silver handset, unlit screen and existing wear.
