Overview

Announced in 2006, the 6300 combines steel and plastic with a 2-inch QVGA screen, physical keypad and 2 MP camera. Original tri-band GSM, Mini-USB data and 2.5 mm audio are recorded apart from later phones sharing the name.

Period and variants

Nokia announces the 6300 on 28 November 2006 with a Q1 2007 shipping plan. Its steel plates, black plastic sections and physical keypad belong to the Series 40 feature-phone period. The later 6300i and 6300 4G remain separate models; a globally verified first retail day is left open.

The European RM-217 uses 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM; the Americas variant replaces 900 with 850 MHz. These are separate tri-band versions, without 3G. Mini-USB transfers data, while a separate bottom socket charges the battery. The 2.5 mm headset connector, removable BL-4C and hot-swappable microSD also differ from later connector conventions. Headphone stereo does not turn the single rear speaker into stereo speakers.

The launch sheet lists 106.4 × 43.6 × 13.1 mm, while the contemporary GSMArena sample is listed at 106 × 44 × 12 mm. Reviewed usable storage of about 7.5 MB or 9 MB is distinct from RAM. Issue1 Bluetooth profiles and PhoneArena omit A2DP, whereas GSMArena reports it; an exact firmware mapping remains unverified. Retail camera observations supersede the early sheet’s conflicting dedicated-shutter and image-resolution wording.
