Overview

The original 2007 5310 XpressMusic combines a 9.9 mm candybar, dedicated music keys, 3.5 mm audio and RDS radio. Series 40, removable BL-4CT and microSD belong to this original, separately from later revivals.

Period and variants

Nokia announces the 5310 XpressMusic on 29 August 2007 with a Q4 shipping plan. The 9.9 mm body, three music keys and standard 3.5 mm connector describe the original XpressMusic handset, separately from later revivals. No exact worldwide first-sale day is inferred.

Its platform is Series 40. GSMArena calls its sample 5th Edition; the early manufacturer sheet and US reviews say 3rd Edition. Their firmware or regional relationship has not been established. European and Americas radios are separate tri-band GSM versions without 3G. A top Micro-USB data port coexists with a separate charging socket.

Thirty megabytes of internal storage and about 7.2 MB free at boot on the US sample are different measures, neither being RAM. Nokia advertises an optional 4 GB card; the reviewed GSMArena package includes 2 GB and T-Mobile packages 1 GB. The manufacturer and US specification tables give the removable BL-4CT as 860 mAh; an 840 mAh sentence conflicts with its own review table. The advertised 18-hour music figure is a conditional manufacturer estimate.

The fixed-focus 2 MP camera lacks flash and records QCIF video. Its single rear speaker is distinct from stereo headphone and A2DP playback. Original screens in the photographs do not establish launch dates, radio bands or factory software.
