Overview

Nokia’s 2003 Series 40 colour candybar 3100 combines a 128 × 128 / 4096-colour display, four-way navigation and translucent replaceable glow-in-the-dark covers. Regional tri-band models, Pop-Port and optional camera/radio accessories are distinguished.

Period and variants

Nokia’s original release is dated 16 June 2003 and plans Q3 shipments in Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific. This announcement date remains distinct from 17 June listings and an unverified first retail day. Early Series 40 colour software, 128 × 128 / 4096 colours, two soft keys and four-way navigation accompany translucent replaceable covers. The standard glow-in-the-dark shell differs from the separately sold electroluminescent gaming cover.

RH-19 uses GSM 900/1800/1900; 3100b RH-50 uses 850/1800/1900. Both are tri-band. The contemporary review lists 101.8 × 42.8 × 19.6 mm and 85 g. Its 850 mAh BL-5C is removable. Bottom Pop-Port data/accessories and the separate charging socket remain distinct from Micro-USB.

There is no built-in camera or FM tuner: PT-3 Fun Camera and HS-2R radio headset are optional accessories. Java and WAP/XHTML describe its historical software. The review’s roughly 350 KB initially free shared user space is not RAM. Game bundles vary by market; the guide limits voice recording to 3100b.
