Overview
Announced in 2005, the Nokia 1110 pairs an inverted monochrome screen with rubber keys, changeable covers and speaking time announcements. Original RH-70 radio bands, dedicated connectors and BL-5C / BL-5CA documentation are kept distinct.
Period and variants
Nokia announced the 1110 alongside the 1600 in Nairobi on 2 June 2005, with a third-quarter availability plan. This entry covers the original keypad phone; later 1110i and 1112 variants remain separate. A verified global first-sale day is left open.
Display and controls
Two contemporary handset reviews agree on 96 × 68 pixels. Light characters appear against a dark background. Their backlight colours and sunlight impressions differ, so neither is treated as universal. Rubber keys, four-way scrolling and two selection keys control the icon menu. Large fonts, speaking time announcements and a demo without a SIM were manufacturer-described features.
Calls, messages and power
The original RH-70 guide specifies EGSM 900 / GSM 1800. The round charging socket is separate from the dedicated system connector, which is not USB. Issue 2 names ACP-7 and ACP-12 chargers. Its insertion instructions specify BL-5C; the contemporary review reports 900 mAh lithium-ion. The same guide separately lists BL-5CA in its accessory table, without establishing that capacity for that battery.
Up to 200 phone contacts and about 60 reviewed SMS slots are functional limits, rather than RAM or freely usable file storage. Polyphonic and MP3-quality preset ringing does not establish a general MP3 player. Picture messaging uses several SMS messages rather than MMS. Manufacturer endurance maxima and period battery tests depend on their original conditions; operator-provided Prepaid Tracker support also requires a compatible service.
Collecting notes
The source photographs show physical covers and keys. Switched-off screens cannot identify backlight colour or firmware. Zunter’s wooden-table framing is preserved. DogGunn’s source records an earlier creator crop; this archive leaves that current file unchanged. The guide explicitly says the phone is not water-resistant.
