Overview
Nokia’s 2003 entry-level 1100 combines a 96 × 65 monochrome screen, single Navi key, silicone keypad, top flashlight and removable BL-5C. Regional dual-band versions and conflicting launch/review weights are distinguished.
Period and variants
Nokia introduces the 1100 in Moscow and New Delhi on 27 August 2003, planning Q4 availability. The exact global first-sale day remains open. Its monochrome screen, replaceable covers, silicone keypad, ridged sides and top flashlight serve basic calls and texts. The C-key flashlight is distinct from a camera flash; design wording does not establish certified waterproofing.
The guide separates 1100a GSM 900/1800 from 1100b 850/1900. The 96 × 65 screen and single Navi/C/two-way-scroll arrangement preserve its period interface. The original announcement lists 93 g, whereas the contemporary reviewer explicitly weighs 86 g and lists 106 × 46 × 20 mm. The discrepancy remains unresolved.
The reviewed BL-5C is 850 mAh and removable, with a separate bottom charging socket. Up to 400 hours standby is a conditional maker estimate. Snake II, Space Impact+, monophonic ringtones and 50 internal contacts describe the reviewed handset. Later 1101/1108/1110 remain separate. The reviewed guide does not establish an exact software edition or CPU/RAM figures.
