Overview
The ROKR E2 combines Linux, physical music controls, a 3.5 mm headset socket and full-size SD storage. Its native music software differs from the E1’s iTunes implementation.
Period and variants
The 3 January 2006 announcement planned first-half availability; an August retail test provides later evidence. Its tested Linux 2.4.20 and Chameleon UI are kept separate from prototype descriptions and Android.
Even the service manual contains reused iTunes and E680 text that conflicts with retail software. Dimensions, display diagonal and battery figures are therefore shown with their source-specific differences. The reviewed 850 mAh pack and 107 g retail weight are not the 117 g prototype-with-card measurement. CPU clock, RAM and total flash remain unspecified.
The factory lists alternative tri-band radio configurations, not one quad-band radio. Storage uses full-size SD up to 2 GB. Stereo Bluetooth describes headphone playback, not a pair of handset speakers; the photographed headphones are an external accessory.
