Overview

The E6 combines Motorola’s Linux touch interface with a stylus, physical music controls, a 3.5 mm jack, full-size SD storage and a 2 MP camera with a macro switch. Document viewing and business-card recognition broaden its music-phone role.

Period and variants

Contemporary reports place its China introduction in late 2006, followed by 2007 hands-on reviews. The May FCC draft is preparation evidence, not a retail date. This entry covers the Linux E6 / ROKR E6.

The IHDT6GP1 draft’s hardware drawings and loan-unit photographs agree on a rear-stored stylus, full-size SD, mini-USB and a mechanical normal / macro camera switch. A later MicroSD paragraph in the draft conflicts with that layout and is not used to redefine the slot. Thai keyboard languages and document / OCR functions describe the tested period software.

The Asian review identifies tri-band GSM. Unresolved processor clock, RAM, internal storage and battery-capacity figures remain empty. Video modes follow actual review menus rather than specifications borrowed from other phones.
