Overview
The original 2010 Defy MB525 combines a 3.7-inch touchscreen, an 800 MHz processor and a compact body with protective port covers. Its factory guide describes IP67, while launch software uses Android 2.1 and MOTOBLUR.
Period and variants
The 1 September 2010 announcement planned fourth-quarter European availability; November hands-on testing provides later evidence. MB525 is kept separate from Defy+ MB526 and the 2021 device.
The 80-page German guide has an erroneous XT300 cover label, but printed page 75 explicitly identifies DEFY MB525, handbook 68004131005 and the manufacturer’s IP67 statement. This is a factory claim, not an independently inspected certificate. Present-day protection depends on the condition of covers and seals.
Period tests support 800 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB storage, 1540 mAh and VGA recording. The exact OMAP suffix and card ceiling remain unresolved. The photograph shows a real MB525 running CyanogenMod 7 and is captioned accordingly, rather than presenting it as launch firmware.
