Overview

The first Meizu MX combines a 4-inch 640×960 ASV screen, physical Home key, 8 MP camera, micro-SIM, micro-USB and MHL. January 2012 retail begins with a dual-core model; later new-dual and quad-core revisions retain similar looks while changing the processor, battery and software.

Period and variants

A website notice on 6 December 2011 precedes the documented 1 January 2012 retail opening. Original M030 uses Exynos 4210. Its early 1.2 GHz review firmware differs from the 1.4 GHz retail retest.

The 2012 M032 quad revision uses Exynos 4412 / MX5Q at 1.4 GHz; M031 new dual uses 32 nm Exynos 4212 at 1.5 GHz. The original battery is marketed as 1600 mAh, later revisions as 1700 mAh. One Computer News quad table instead lists 1650 mAh without explaining the basis. Dual 16 GB and initial quad 32/64 GB capacities are built-in flash, without external cards. A software SD-storage label is not a physical slot.

Original customised Android 2.3 differs from the 2012 Flyme 1.0 / Android 4.0 revisions. The rear cover opens for micro-SIM access but the battery is not user-swappable. The raised Home button, contextual capacitive keys and MHL adaptor output distinguish this generation. The photograph cannot determine its CPU or firmware revision.
