Overview
KU990 Viewty combines a3-inch touchscreen, Schneider optics, xenon flash and slow-motion video in a camera-focused feature phone, with a physical rear lens-ring control.
Period and variants
LG announced Viewty on23 August2007 with October availability planned. The September review explicitly tested two preproduction versions. An October factory KU990 guide provides a later reference; review dates are not retail dates, and KU990i or other regional models remain separate.
The advertised5.1MP camera produces2592×1944 images in both guide and sample.120fps means QVGA capture with15fps slow playback; ordinary VGA recording is30fps. Stabilization is digital rather than OIS, and xenon flash is separate from the focus-assist lamp. The guide identifies the secondary camera as320×240, overriding the sample review’s VGA label.
100MB means shared user storage, not RAM. The guide specifies microSD up to2GB with battery removal for access. USB mass storage exposes card files rather than internal storage. Touch interaction, task switching and Java installation belong to LG’s feature-phone software, not Symbian, Windows Mobile or Android.
