Overview
LG’s 2015 G4 pairs a 5.5-inch QHD IPS Quantum screen with optional leather, removable 3000 mAh power and manual RAW photography. Snapdragon 808, 16 MP f/1.8 three-axis OIS 2.0 and regional radios/charging accessories are documented.
Period and variants
G4 appears in US launch material dated 28 April 2015 and LG’s Seoul announcement dated 29 April. Korean rollout and later regional availability remain separate. Its fixed Slim Arc measures 148.9 × 76.1 mm, 155 g and 6.3–9.8 mm thick. Removable covers use genuine leather or plastic; Ceramic White and Metallic Gray are finish names. G Flex 2 is a separate product.
Display and platform
The 5.5-inch 2560 × 1440 IPS Quantum LCD integrates AIT touch. LG lists 538 ppi; GSMArena lists approximately 534 ppi. Manufacturer brightness and contrast claims do not establish every aged screen’s condition. Snapdragon 808 pairs two Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 cores with Adreno 418, 3 GB LPDDR3 and 32 GB eMMC. Launch software is Android 5.1/LG UX 4.0. Enabled regional radios remain distinct from the X10 chipset’s maximum capabilities.
Imaging and serviceable hardware
The 16 MP f/1.8 rear camera uses three-axis OIS 2.0, laser-assisted focus and a Color Spectrum Sensor. Manual controls and DNG RAW complement an 8 MP f/2.0 front camera. Tests document 4K at 30 fps, 1080p 30 and 720p 120 capture, without 1080p 60 in reviewed firmware. The camera article notes a July firmware update, so processing observations are not universal launch behaviour.
A user-replaceable 3000 mAh battery sits beneath the cover beside Micro-SIM and separate microSD. Contemporary 2 TB support wording is not a 2 TB test by this archive. Rear keys, one speaker, bottom 3.5 mm/Micro-USB, top IR and SlimPort 4K remain useful period features. LG’s 21 May release explicitly confirms Quick Charge 2.0 with an optional certified charger, superseding an early 8 May review’s contrary report; an ordinary 5 V/2 A box charger is separate. Wireless charging needs a compatible optional cover. The H815T guide also documents natural leather’s response to moisture and wear.
