Overview
Huawei’s 2014 Ascend Mate 7 combines a 6-inch Full HD IPS-NEO display, Kirin 925, rear touch fingerprint reader and embedded 4100 mAh battery. Standard, premium and regional configurations remain separate.
Period and variants
Huawei announces Ascend Mate 7 at IFA in Berlin on 4 September 2014. Its 6-inch Full HD IPS-NEO display, curved metal body and rear touch fingerprint reader define this generation. The Japanese sheet dated 10 September describes the original launch; a Q 3 multinational rollout remains a plan, without an independently established earliest worldwide retail day. Maker and review agree on 157 × 81 × 7.9 mm and 185 g. Display density is 368 ppi;508 ppi belongs to the fingerprint sensor.
Kirin 925 combines four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 and four 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 cores. Original Mali-T628 naming is retained without the review’s benchmark-based MP 2 guess. Standard 2 GB RAM/16 GB flash and premium 3 GB/32 GB remain separate, with gold assigned to premium in the launch sheet. Japan originally lists 2 GB/16 GB. Android 4.4KitKat/EMUI 3.0 describes the launch period, whereas 4.4.2 is the October review sample.
Left Micro-SIM and microSD trays, right power/volume, top 3.5 mm and bottom microUSB follow the hardware review. Dual-SIM variants can substitute a Nano-SIM for microSD; the Japanese single-SIM specification is not changed into a dual-SIM model. Japan’s original 32 GB card limit and exact radio bands stay regional; larger-card compatibility remains unverified here. Dual-band abgn, Bluetooth 4, NFC, OTG, GPS/GLONASS and FM follow period evidence.
The embedded 4100 mAh lithium-polymer battery is not routinely swappable. A supplied 2 A adapter does not identify a modern charging protocol. The 13 MP f/2 rear autofocus and 5 MP front cameras record 1080 p 30 and 720 p 30 respectively; the period sample lacks 4K and 1080 p 60. Conflicting maker/sample maximum still dimensions are not forced into a universal value. Wet-finger claims do not establish an IP rating, and advertised endurance or LTE peaks are not guarantees for old batteries or every network.
