Overview
HTC Hero establishes the early HTC Sense Android experience, with a curved chin, trackball, 3.5mm jack and 5MP autofocus camera. This entry follows international GSM hardware.
Period and variants
Hero was announced in London on 24 June 2009, with July introduction documented by HTC’s annual report. Launch-period testing uses Android 1.5 and HTC Sense. A precise first retail day remains unverified.
International GSM Hero has MSM7200A, 288MB RAM, nominal 512MB flash and WCDMA 900/2100MHz. Sprint CDMA hardware is separate. The regional G2 Touch name should not be confused with the later keyboard-equipped G2.
Factory Bluetooth 2.0 supports A2DP, while the stock software lacks Bluetooth file transfer. Launch-period recording is CIF at 15fps, without camera flash. The factory manual specifies SD 2.0 compatibility without establishing a universal card-capacity ceiling.
