Overview

The original HTC Desire is HTC’s 2010 Android flagship, with 1GHz Snapdragon, 3.7-inch WVGA display and optical navigation. This entry follows European / Asian A8181 and qualifies later panels and software.

Period and variants

HTC announced Desire at MWC on 16 February 2010, planning broad European and Asian availability in early Q2. An April retail test confirms the production handset without fixing a single worldwide first-sale day. Original software is Android 2.1 with HTC Sense.

Launch AMOLED and later Super LCD production are separately qualified. The photographs do not identify their panel generation. Nominal 512MB flash includes system space; the original review found roughly 120MB for apps, distinct from 576MB RAM.

A8181 uses WCDMA 900/2100MHz; other regional and CDMA hardware is separate. Launch WVGA15 recording precedes the HD recording tested after Android 2.2. Unlike Hero’s stock software, Desire supports Bluetooth file transfer.
