Overview

Nexus S pairs Samsung hardware with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, curved cover glass, Super AMOLED and NFC. This entry follows the initial GSM / Super AMOLED profile.

Period and variants

Samsung and Google announced Nexus S on 6 December 2010 with December US and UK rollout plans. Planned availability does not establish one verified worldwide retail day. Launch software is Android 2.3.

Original NFC use is tag reading, not proof of every payment service. This entry uses the initial GSM 900/AWS/2100MHz WCDMA profile; other regional and carrier hardware differs.

D1 720×480 recording is specified at 30fps. The factory 720p claim concerns playback, not recording. Sharing Hummingbird with Galaxy S does not transfer its HD capture capability. Internal 16GB storage is not expandable. Dimensions use Samsung’s rounded 10.9mm figure. A contemporary review lists4.55 ounces, approximately 129g; the 1500mAh battery is removable.
