Overview
The 2014 BlackBerry Classic restores QWERTY, a trackpad and familiar navigation keys to BlackBerry 10, with a square 720 × 720 touchscreen, dual-core CPU and 2 GB RAM. Q20 is another common name.
Period and variants
Classic was announced on 17 December 2014 with BlackBerry 10.3.1 preloaded. Only the Classic section of the combined SEC filing is used. Later Android conversions and Passport configurations are separate.
The LCD has a nominal 3.5-inch diagonal; the SQC100-1 carrier card gives 3.46 inches. Quoted weights differ by one gram. One bottom grille contains the mono speaker and the other a microphone. Stereo headset audio does not imply dual onboard speakers.
Separate side trays hold nano-SIM and microSD; the battery is normally fixed. Radio capabilities vary across SQC100 versions. Period Android-app compatibility and the bundled Amazon Appstore do not turn BB10 into native Android or establish complete Google Play support.
BlackBerry retired legacy BBOS and BlackBerry 10 services on 4 January 2022. Historical messaging and connection features do not establish reliable operation today.
