Period and variants
RIM announced Bold on 12 May 2008 and planned summer carrier availability. This is the 9000 with BBOS 4.6, separate from 9700, 9650 and later touchscreen Bold designs.
The announcement explicitly lists 128 MB Flash and a separate 1 GB storage area, not a combined RAM amount. Its card footnote distinguishes then-current 8 GB from expected 16 GB support. A later review unit struggled with larger cards; the reviewer suspected an individual problem, so no universal incompatibility is inferred.
Two onboard speakers and a stereo headset socket are separate hardware. The side card slot is accessible without battery removal, and mini-USB accessories differ from micro-USB. Carrier branding and a user desktop theme do not identify radio bands or the factory interface.
BlackBerry retired legacy BBOS and BlackBerry 10 services on 4 January 2022. Historical messaging and connection features do not establish reliable operation today.
