Dates and versions
Announced 2009-06-08; first retail availability 2009-06-19. The date field uses that first retail day, not the announcement.
Launch models had 16 or 32 GB and black or white cases; the later black 8 GB edition belongs to the same family. Apple’s current support page lists only 8 GB, so the launch announcement is also used. The operating-system field records iPhone OS 3.0 at launch.
Unconfirmed internal memory and battery-capacity numbers are omitted. Manufacturer battery-life figures are laboratory maximums.
